Although Kailash IRC is located in a remote mountain village it is easily accessible by car or public transport. Please read the instructions below to help you plan your trip.

From Zurich, Geneva, Basel or Milan (Malpensa) it will take you approximately 3-4 hours to arrive at Kailash by public transport. From Geneva Airport and Zurich Airport you can take a direct train to Visp. From Visp, take the regional train to Stalden-Saas. From Stalden-Saas railroad station, a bus will take you up to Törbel. The final bus stop destination is “Törbel Kirche” which is a 3-minute walk from Kailash IRC. If unsure you can ask the driver to alert you when you have arrived. Please use the train website www.sbb.ch to plan your trip, with “Törbel Kirche” being your final destination.

If you arrive late at night or have to leave early from one of the airports you might need to stay overnight close to the airport. There may be accommodation at KMC Zurich, KMC Geneva or KMC Basel so please contact one of these Centres and they may be able to help.

If you plan to travel by public transport we recommend the following saver tickets:
– swiss transfer ticket
– supersaver ticket to Visp or Stalden-Saas

In addition to this supersaver ticket you need a regular ticket from Visp or Stalden-Saas to Törbel Kirche. This ticket can be purchased at your departure station.

All major cities in Switzerland offer very good connections to Visp. From Visp, take the regional train to Stalden-Saas. From Stalden-Saas railroad station, a bus will take you up to Törbel. Depending on the length of your stay, you may be able to use the Centre car park. Otherwise there are a few public car parks in Törbel and fees vary according to the length of your stay. You can purchase a long stay card at the local Community Office called “Gemeinde”. The pictures below show the way to the largest car park located only 5 minutes walk from Kailash IRC and next to the “Gemeinde”.

1. At the church, please turn right

3. Follow the road straight ahead

4. Keep on the road until you reach the car park

5. You have reached the car park!
