MEDITATING IN THE MOUNTAINS

A 3-day meditation-challenge with Gen Losang Kelsang

You always wanted to meditate, but did not know how to start? Or would you like to deepen your previous meditation experiences? Then this 3-day meditation challenge is just right for you. An introduction followed by six guided meditations awaits you this weekend. Immerse yourself in your own clarity and depth of mind through skillful meditation guides from Buddhist philosophy. The retreat will be led by Gen Losang Kelsang, a Buddhist monk with over 35 years of meditation experience who teaches the methods of meditation in a fun and humorous way. He teaches and manages the retreat in English with German translation. The retreat takes place in the Valais mountains, in the midst of a breathtaking mountain landscape.

All meditation sessions are guided, including a short talk, Buddhist prayer, and quiet time for contemplation and meditation. During the breaks, there is plenty of time for walks and exchanges with other meditators.

Silence during the retreat

During the retreat we observe silence until lunchtime. Being in silence allows the mind to settle and find peace. In this way you will be able to concentrate better during meditation and to leave all the stress and busyness that we are normally immersed in behind. In the afternoon and evening retreaters are encouraged to discuss their experience of the meditation and teachings, so they can help each other to overcome obstacles and gain deeper experience.

Language and Translation

This course will be held in English and translated into German, however we try to help to organise more translations if possible.

Volunteering

Kailash IRC is a charity and the Retreat Centre is run by a few volunteers. It is also fun to connect with fellow retreaters while helping out with small tasks. For this reason every participant helps with some jobs (e.g. chopping vegetables, washing dishes, tidying up etc). and the final cleaning at the end of the course.
